Inside America’s Secret City (It’s a Truck Stop)

Inside the World’s Largest Truck Stop

Hey Reader,

This week’s video takes us inside Iowa 80, the world’s largest truck stop, during one of the biggest trucker events of the year.

But what we found was so much more than a massive truck stop.

We went in curious about the size, the trucks, the museum, the food, and the people who come from all over the country to be there. But the deeper we got into the day, the more this story became about the men and women behind the wheel.

The drivers spending weeks away from home.
The ones hauling 80,000 pounds while the rest of us hurry around them.
The families, veterans, couples, and everyday people doing a job most of us only notice when it slows us down.

This episode really changed the way we see truckers.

Because by the end of the day, the lesson was simple:

Most of us see the truck before we see the person inside it. We hope this video helps you see them a little differently, too.

Watch the new episode here:

As always, thank you for being part of this journey with us.

Go make the memory,
Cole & Emily

Before sunrise, we were helping pack online orders filled with beef, eggs, milk, cheese and other food from small farms throughout the area. But that left us with a question: How does an Amish farm survive in a modern world? Over the next 16 hours, we moved cattle, traveled by horse and buggy, made cheese, collected eggs...

Inside Florida's Elite Dolphin Training Center Hey Reader, This week on Unique America, we’re in the Florida Keys going behind the scenes at Dolphin Life to find out what it really takes to become a dolphin trainer. We went into the day thinking we’d be learning a few hand signals and spending a lot of time in the water. We quickly found out there is a whole lot more happening behind the scenes before a trainer ever asks a dolphin to do a trick. From the early morning prep to learning how...

Inside the Town Where Cell Phones Are Banned (Appalachia) Hey there Reader, Deep in the Appalachian Mountains lies one of the strangest places in America, a region where cell phones, Wi-Fi, and even microwaves are supposedly against the law. The internet is full of wild claims about why this place exists, so we traveled there to separate fact from fiction. What we discovered was far more surprising than we expected. Thank you to our friends at Turo for making this adventure possible! Book...
