Inside The Town That Summons Worms From The Ground

Inside The Town That Summons Worms From The Ground

We thought we were just going fishing but instead we ended up deep in the Florida Panhandle chasing a 100-year-old tradition that almost no one is still doing.

It’s called worm grunting — and it looks like magic when worms starting coming out of the ground.

But when we got into town, everything started falling apart.

Our experts canceled and no one wanted to take us.

What followed was one of the most unexpected, hands-on, and honestly wild experiences we’ve had in America — learning from people who’ve spent decades mastering something most of us never even think about.

Big thank you to Poncho Outdoors for making this adventure possible. Cole wore their shirts all throughout this Texas trip, and honestly, they were perfect for long, hot days outside — lightweight, breathable, comfortable, and easy to move in whether we were out in the field or in town. Check out Cole's favorite picks here. Enter your email for $10 off your first order (get a great looking shirt and it helps support us, too!)

Thank you for being here,

Emily

You’re invited to travel with us in the Dominican Republic!

This November, we’re heading back to one of our favorite places we’ve ever been... the Dominican Republic (November 7–14).

Tucked along the untouched coastline of Samaná, this experience is all about slowing down and soaking it in — from hidden beaches and jungle adventures to incredible local food and meaningful moments you’ll remember long after the trip ends.

If you need a little inspiration first, our Dominican Republic YouTube series is the perfect place to spark your wanderlust and get a feel for what makes this place so special.

We’ve designed this week to feel effortless and immersive. Think curated experiences, unforgettable scenery, and a small group of like-minded people all sharing it together.

We invite you to experience the Dominican Republic the way we’ve come to love it.

Inside The Amish Farm Feeding Modern America Hey Reader, We spent an entire day working alongside an Amish farmer in Pennsylvania, and what we found was not what we expected. Before sunrise, we were helping pack online orders filled with beef, eggs, milk, cheese and other food from small farms throughout the area. But that left us with a question: How does an Amish farm survive in a modern world? Over the next 16 hours, we moved cattle, traveled by horse and buggy, made cheese, collected eggs...

Inside Florida's Elite Dolphin Training Center Hey Reader, This week on Unique America, we’re in the Florida Keys going behind the scenes at Dolphin Life to find out what it really takes to become a dolphin trainer. We went into the day thinking we’d be learning a few hand signals and spending a lot of time in the water. We quickly found out there is a whole lot more happening behind the scenes before a trainer ever asks a dolphin to do a trick. From the early morning prep to learning how...

Inside the World’s Largest Truck Stop Hey Reader, This week’s video takes us inside Iowa 80, the world’s largest truck stop, during one of the biggest trucker events of the year. But what we found was so much more than a massive truck stop. We went in curious about the size, the trucks, the museum, the food, and the people who come from all over the country to be there. But the deeper we got into the day, the more this story became about the men and women behind the wheel. The drivers...
