Inside The Town That Summons Worms From The Ground

Inside The Town That Summons Worms From The Ground

We thought we were just going fishing but instead we ended up deep in the Florida Panhandle chasing a 100-year-old tradition that almost no one is still doing.

It’s called worm grunting — and it looks like magic when worms starting coming out of the ground.

But when we got into town, everything started falling apart.

Our experts canceled and no one wanted to take us.

What followed was one of the most unexpected, hands-on, and honestly wild experiences we’ve had in America — learning from people who’ve spent decades mastering something most of us never even think about.

Big thank you to Poncho Outdoors for making this adventure possible. Cole wore their shirts all throughout this Texas trip, and honestly, they were perfect for long, hot days outside — lightweight, breathable, comfortable, and easy to move in whether we were out in the field or in town. Check out Cole's favorite picks here. Enter your email for $10 off your first order (get a great looking shirt and it helps support us, too!)

Thank you for being here,

Emily

You’re invited to travel with us in the Dominican Republic!

This November, we’re heading back to one of our favorite places we’ve ever been... the Dominican Republic (November 7–14).

Tucked along the untouched coastline of Samaná, this experience is all about slowing down and soaking it in — from hidden beaches and jungle adventures to incredible local food and meaningful moments you’ll remember long after the trip ends.

If you need a little inspiration first, our Dominican Republic YouTube series is the perfect place to spark your wanderlust and get a feel for what makes this place so special.

We’ve designed this week to feel effortless and immersive. Think curated experiences, unforgettable scenery, and a small group of like-minded people all sharing it together.

We invite you to experience the Dominican Republic the way we’ve come to love it.

Inside America's SINKING Town (Before It Disappears) Hey there Reader, There’s a tiny community in the middle of the Chesapeake Bay with no bridge to the mainland, a mail boat that delivers many of life’s necessities, and water that is never far from anyone’s front door. Tangier Island has already lost much of its land. Entire communities that once stood nearby are now underwater. But despite the shoreline moving closer, the people who call Tangier home are still fighting to remain. We flew...

Inside America's Infamous Retirement Community Hey there Reader, This week, we’re taking you inside one of the most talked about places in America: The Villages, Florida. If you’ve heard of The Villages, you’ve probably heard the rumors. Golf carts everywhere. Wild stories. A retirement community that people either seem to love, judge, or completely misunderstand. So we decided to spend a day there and see what life is actually like on the other side but what surprised us most wasn’t the golf...

Inside America's Rarest Honey Harvest Hey Reader, This week’s video started with one jar of honey. While filming along Florida’s Forgotten Coast, we picked up a jar of Tupelo honey and immediately understood why people talk about it differently. It didn’t taste like any honey we’d ever had. That jar led us to Wewahitchka, Florida, where America’s rarest honey harvest happens for only a tiny window each spring. The Tupelo bloom lasts about two weeks, and everything has to line up perfectly. So...
